Our Curriculum

Learning Through 6 Key Areas.

Our curriculum focusses on 6 key learning areas based on the Nurturing Early Learners  

(NEL) Framework developed by the Ministry of Education. We use the Thematic Approach and children are given opportunity to go for field trips and discover through hands-on activities.

 

The 6 Key Learning Areas are:

  • Aesthetics & Creative Expressions

    Express ideas and feelings through art and music & movement.

    Art & Craft, painting, music & movement activities, playing musical percussions.

  • Discovery of the World

    Show an interest in the world they live in.

    Find out why things happen and how things work through simple investigations.

  • Motor Skills Development

    Demonstrate control and coordination in gross and fine motor skills.

  • Numeracy

    Recognise and use basic shapes and spatial concepts in daily experiences.

    Use numbers in daily experiences.

    Learn matching, sorting etc

  • Social & Emotional Development

    Aware of their personal identity

    Manage their own emotions and behaviours.

    Respect for diversity

    Learn to communicate and interact with others.

    Take responsibility for their actions.

Zippy’s Friend Programme

Zippy’s friends is a programme for children. An evidence-based program developed in the UK that is currently running in more than 30 countries worldwide. Zippy’s Friends promotes the social and emotional development of a child, a critical aspect of school readiness.

 

The stories show them facing issues that are familiar to young children – friendship, making and losing friends, bullying, dealing with change and loss and making a new start.

 
 

Key to Learning

Key to Learning is a unique educational developmental cognitive curriculum for the Early Years, based on Vygotskian theories of learning, specially designed to provide optimal learning experiences.

 

 

Our centre uses the Key to Learning:

Sensory Mathematics for Nursery 1 & 2

·      Recognise and apply fundamental sensory standards of colour, shape & size.

·      Analyse objects and their relationships using culturally defined sensory norms.

Mathematics for Kindergarten 1 & 2

·      Introduces the concept and language of Mathematics and develops fundamental understanding of Mathematical relationships.

·      Discover the concept of number.

·      Learn to think about the relationship between what is being measured and the unit of measurement required for measuring it.

·      Help children internalise concepts of relative quantity and relative size (length, weight, volume).

 
 
 

Our Literacy Programme

With the powerful Code Cracker synthetic phonics approach combined with Rigby Star Phonics readers, we want inspire and systematically prepare your child to become a confident reader and writer!

To develop a strong foundation in reading and spelling, we embark on the Code Cracker and Rigby Star Phonics programme. Code Cracker activity books will strengthen your child’s ability to connect letters to their corresponding sounds, teaching him/her to put sounds together to blend words while the exciting Rigby Star Phonics readers will allow your child to systematically apply what he/she has learnt through Code Cracker to reading whole books!

 
 
 

English Speech & Drama (Drama-in-Me)

A multi-sensorial learning which engages the child’s emotional, physical, social and  cognitive development.

Children will also acquire techniques and strategies stimulating critical thinking and problem solving. They are steered into thinking beyond their own points of view, considering multiple perspectives
